Minimum Qualifications
 Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must be a high school graduate or its equivalent
  • Good driving record and valid driver's license at the time of appointment
  • Good credit record
  • No criminal record
  • Must maintain certification under the minimum training standards for jails as required by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services or obtain certification within one year of hire.
  • Must be able to respond to the jail within one hour from place or primary residence.
