Looking for qualified individuals to serve the mental health needs of the offender population.
The Western Virginia Regional Jail is seeking applicants for two full-time and one part-time Peer Support Specialist/Advocate and/or Case Manager to implement the Virginia DCJS Jail Mental Health Pilot Program. All positions are grant funded positions and will work collaboratively with a full-time therapist from Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare and Jail Administration.
The qualified applicant will be a licensed Peer Support Specialist or a mental health advocate that is eligible for licensing within one year of hire. Individuals hired will function as a member of a team to provide expertise about the mental health recovery process, symptom management and assist with providing the necessary tools to offenders at the Western Virginia Regional Jail to be successful when re-entering the community from incarceration. Applicants will possess the necessary skills to provide instruction in Changing Offender Behavior, Dialectal Behavior Therapy-Corrections Modified Skills Training and Wellness and Recovery Action Plan or successfully complete the provided training within a year.
All positions offer a competitive salary. Full-time positions only offer VRS retirement, health, dental, and vision, and other benefits, and paid sick leave/vacation. The WVRJ also has an onsite employee fitness room.
